Announcement

Hello dear readers,

I wanted to let you all know that I will no longer be blogging. I am dealing with some health issues and have chosen to put all my focus and energy into getting myself better. I hope you all will understand. The one outstanding giveaway will end on March 16th and will draw a winner for that but that will be my final blog post at least for quite some time. I would love to hear from anyone who would like to perhaps take over the blog for me. At this point I have many, many outstanding reviews/giveaways to get done but will be unable to accomplish that until my I am in better condition and so I extend a HUGE sorry to all of the gracious companies and PR groups that I have been dealing with. I would never leave you in a lurch unless I was absolutely forced to.

Once again, anyone who has experience with a Blogger blog who lives in my vicinity (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) and who would be interested in receiving products to write reviews and giveaways - I would love to hear from you - please don't be shy and send me an email.

Again, I am sorry to my readers and all the sponsors who I am letting down.

Fall to Pieces by Mary Forsberg Weiland

Fall to Pieces: A Memoir of Drugs, Rock 'n' Roll, and Mental Illness

This is a memoir written by the wife Scott Weiland, lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots and later Velvet Revolver.

Mary discusses her various symptoms of trouble such as a deep depression that would keep her in bed for days, a hot temper that would cause her to fly off the handle unexpectedly, and an overdose. Eventually, after throwing Scott's clothes out onto their driveway and setting fire to them Mary was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Weiland takes us through her ups and downs and discusses with great candor her life, her love affair with Scott, and her amazing fight with addictions that could have ultimately killed her.

I very much enjoyed reading this memoir and I am not usually one to read this type of genre. I find her writing and telling of the amazingly volatile and tempestuous life she had been leading to be very refreshing. You will feel very sad and despondent reading Mary's tale but you will also find yourself feeling ever hopeful for this troubled soul too. I would highly recommend Fall to Pieces to any readers.

DISCLOSURE: I received a copy of this book for the purposes of reviewing it.

Brightest Star in the Sky by Marian Keyes

I was unable to read this amazing-sounding book but I thought I would give you the blurb on Brightest Star in the Sky by Marian Keyes.

From mariankeyes.com:

Welcome to 66 Star Street...

In the top floor flat lives music exec Katie. She spends her days fighting off has-been rock stars and wondering how much cheesecake you’d need to eat yourself to death.

Below her, a pair of muscular Poles share with a streetwise cabbie named Lydia who has a sharp tongue, an even sharper brain but some unexpected soft spots.

On the first floor is Fionn – the gardener who prefers the company of parsnips to people. But he looks like a fairy-tale prince and when he’s offered his own television show, he’s suddenly thrust into the limelight.

And at the bottom of the house live Matt and Maeve, who are Very Much In Love and who stave off despair by doing random acts of kindness.

But a mysterious visitor has just landed at 66 Star Street and big changes are on the way. Old secrets are working their way to the surface, bringing love, tragedy and an unexpected optimism. And life will be different for everyone...
